Dental Implant Cost in the UK in 2026: What One Implant Really Costs, and in Turkey

8 min read
TL;DR

A single implant with abutment and crown typically costs £2,000 to 3,500 privately in the UK, more in London, and the NHS funds implants only in exceptional cases. At our clinic in Fethiye the implant starts from 500 EUR and the zirconia crown is 200 to 350 EUR, so one tooth is typically 700 to 850 EUR. Implants need two trips (3 to 5 days, 3 to 6 months of healing, then 5 to 7 days). With both trips counted, one implant saves about £825, two about £2,650 and four about £6,300 against typical UK private prices.

A dental implant typically costs £2,000 to 3,500 privately in the UK in 2026 for the implant, abutment and crown together, and the NHS funds implants only in exceptional cases; at our clinic in Fethiye the implant starts from 500 EUR and the zirconia crown on it costs 200 to 350 EUR, so one complete tooth is typically 700 to 850 EUR with a standard implant system. Implants need two trips, so a single implant on its own saves little once flights and hotels are counted. From two implants the difference is clear, and with four it typically runs to several thousand pounds. This guide breaks down what a UK quote contains, what the extras cost, what changes with several implants, and how the numbers work out for 1, 2 and 4 implants with both trips included.

What a dental implant price is actually made of

"How much is a dental implant?" has three different answers depending on what is being priced. Some clinics advertise the titanium fixture alone, some the fixture with surgery, and some the complete tooth. A replacement tooth on an implant always has the same parts:

  • The implant fixture: a titanium screw placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic, which fuses with the bone over three to six months.

  • The abutment: the connector screwed into the implant that holds the crown. It can be a standard part or custom milled for the gum line.

  • The crown: the visible tooth, usually zirconia, made by the laboratory after healing.

  • Diagnostics: a CBCT 3D scan that shows bone height, width and density, and the position of the sinus and nerve.

  • Possible extras: extraction of the old tooth, a bone graft, a sinus lift in the upper back jaw, a temporary tooth during healing, and sedation if you want it.

When you compare quotes, compare complete teeth, not fixtures. A cheap headline figure that leaves out the abutment, the crown or the scan is not cheap. Ask every clinic, including us, for the implant brand and reference, the abutment type, the crown material and whether a graft is likely, all in writing. Our implant brands guide explains what the brand changes, and the 2026 implant price guide for Turkey covers the Turkish market in general.

How much is a dental implant in the UK in 2026

NHS. The NHS provides implants only where there is a clear clinical need that nothing else can meet: reconstruction after cancer surgery or serious trauma, a cleft palate, or teeth missing from birth. These are hospital referrals, not something a high-street practice can offer. For ordinary tooth loss the NHS route is a denture or a bridge under Band 3, which costs £332.10 in England from April 2026. If that is acceptable to you and you can find a practice, it is far cheaper than any implant anywhere.

Private. Fee surveys put the national average for a single implant with its crown at around £2,300 to 2,500. Outside London a complete tooth typically costs £2,000 to 2,800; in London and the South East £3,000 to 3,500 is common and higher quotes are not unusual. Dental plans and insurance policies usually cap implant benefit at a few hundred pounds a year, if they include it at all. Irish readers typically pay 2,500 to 3,500 EUR privately and can reclaim 20% through Med 2, which also applies to implant work done abroad.

Several implants: why the total is not simply the price times the number of teeth

Each separate gap needs its own implant, so two missing molars on opposite sides of the mouth are two complete implant teeth. Adjacent gaps are different. Three missing teeth in a row are often restored with two implants carrying a three-unit bridge, and four in a row with two or three implants. A whole arch is restored on four implants (All-on-4) or, as a removable option, a snap-on denture on two implants, which costs about 2,000 to 2,800 EUR per arch at our clinic. The plan follows your CT scan and your bite, not a price list. Our guide to dentures, snap-on dentures and All-on-4 compares the full-arch options.

This is also where the gap between UK and Turkish prices becomes large. Four implants alone typically cost £8,000 to 12,000 privately in the UK before the teeth on them, while a fixed All-on-4 arch at our clinic starts from 3,500 EUR.

The worked example: 1, 2 and 4 implants with both trips included

The figures below use a typical UK private price of £2,500 per implant with crown, our price of roughly 775 EUR per complete tooth (about £675) and £1,000 for both trips together: two return flights to Dalaman, four hotel nights for the surgery trip and six for the crown trip. Your own figures will differ; the pattern will not.

Travel is a fixed cost, so it weighs less with every extra implant. A bone graft widens the difference further, because it typically adds hundreds of pounds at home and 150 to 400 EUR here. For a single implant, the honest answer depends on your time: £825 is real money, but so are two flights and ten days of leave. If you already have a crown or another tooth to treat, or you would spend a week in the sun anyway, it tips in favour of Fethiye. If not, a local implant is a perfectly reasonable choice.

Two trips: what the timeline looks like

  • Trip 1, 3 to 5 days: examination, CBCT scan, the written plan confirmed tooth by tooth, any extraction, and placement of the implant with a healing cap. Avoid flying for 24 hours after surgery; stitches can be removed at home after 7 to 10 days.

  • Healing at home, 3 to 6 months: the implant fuses with the bone. Lower jaw implants are often ready at three months, upper jaw implants at five to six.

  • Trip 2, 5 to 7 days: the abutment is fitted, a digital scan is taken, the laboratory makes the crown and it is fitted and adjusted to your bite. You leave with the implant passport and guarantee document.

If a bone graft or sinus lift has to heal before the implant goes in, the plan becomes two to three trips over six to nine months. In selected cases with good bone, a fixed temporary tooth or bridge can be fitted on the day of surgery; our same-day implants guide explains who qualifies, and the sinus lift and bone graft guide covers low bone. Day-by-day schedules are in the trip planning guide.

Guarantee, and what to check in any implant quote

Our written guarantee covers the implant fixture for life: if an implant fails to integrate or is lost, we replace the implant at no charge. Zirconia crowns and bridges on implants carry 3 years. The guarantee does not cover trauma, grinding without the night guard we recommend, gum and bone loss from neglected hygiene, or the cost of flights, and it is limited for heavy smokers, which we tell you before treatment. Every patient receives an implant passport with the brand, reference and serial number, so any dentist at home can identify the parts. Full terms are in our guarantee guide.

When it is not worth travelling

  • One implant, nothing else, no spare leave. Two trips for a saving of a few hundred pounds is a poor trade for many people.

  • Active gum disease or uncontrolled diabetes. Both need treating first, over months, close to home.

  • Heavy smoking you will not pause around surgery. It measurably lowers implant success, and our guarantee is limited for heavy smokers.

  • You qualify for hospital implants on the NHS. After cancer surgery or trauma, ask your consultant first.

  • You need fixed permanent teeth within one week. Bone needs months to heal; a clinic promising final implant crowns in a single week for a standard case is skipping a step.

How it works with us in Fethiye

Send a recent panoramic X-ray, a CBCT if you have one, or clear photographs through the consultation form. Dr. Mustafa Besli, who has practised implantology and aesthetic dentistry for over 15 years, reviews them, and you receive a written plan naming the implant brand, the abutment, the crown and any graft, with a price per tooth, before you book anything. Flights from Stansted, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and other UK airports land at Dalaman, about 50 minutes from the clinic. Airport transfers are included and hotel arrangements are made on request. If the CBCT on day one shows that a graft is not needed after all, that line comes off the bill. Our complete guide to dental implants in Turkey explains the procedure in more detail.
